Nightly rentals are a great example of great and awful design
to start with nightly rentals have more problems than people think they’re marketed as passive real estate investments but resemble part time jobs they’re supposed to be fun second hojmes that make you money, but they stress you out and make no money they’re supposed ot be great investments but often are subpar investments in the best of times
why?
its all because of bad design.
good design in a nightly rental looks like this is this a second home or a vacation rental?
- If its a second home then it needs these features, x y and z
- if its a vacation rental it needs these features A, B and C
- if its a passive investment it needs featrues E, F and G
if its 1 of these its easy, if its 2 of these its very hard as they have to overlap all three is not impossible in the same way as unicorns may have once existed but i’ve never see one.
What does it take to give the customer what they want is the question and a house cannot do all of those
great nightly rentals are typically 1 of those things
good nightly rentals are 2
bad nightly rentals try to be all three and never succeed.
